We use statistics cookies to optimise website experience and understand how the site is used. We ask permission before placing these cookies.
5.3 Marketing/Tracking cookies
Marketing/tracking cookies are used to create user profiles for advertising or to track users across websites for similar marketing purposes.
5.4 Device identity and fraud-prevention (Kount)
When you complete a claim enquiry on this website, we use Kount, a device-verification service provided by Kount, Inc. (an Equifax company). Kount runs quietly in the background on our claim enquiry pages only. It reads certain technical characteristics of your device and stores a small number of identifiers on it, in cookies, local storage and session storage (for example clientside-cookie, clientside-local, kountCookie and KountSessionID). This generates a one-time device session reference that we send with your enquiry to our claims-processing partner. The partner needs this reference to carry out an identity and fraud check and a credit-reference search with Equifax. That search is what allows us to trace the historic car-finance agreements your claim relates to, so that we can assess and progress it. Without it, only an Experian search can be run, which may identify fewer of your agreements. We do not use Kount for advertising, marketing, or to build a profile of you across other websites. The device session reference is generated fresh for each enquiry, and the identifiers stored on your device are short-lived or are cleared when you close your browser.
